THE UNDERSHEPHERD
Isaiah Washington and Malinda Williams both give searing performances in this portrait of the ballooning ego of a pastor in waiting who schemes to become the lead pastor. Once he does, he predictably loses his mind, in a clear indictment of the scandals that have rocked the Black church in recent years. Parr says that’s what inspired the script, which has a great premise but is overwrought at times and with competing subplots. However, Parr pulls it off for the most part and Washington sinks his teeth into the material. Williams however won the acting award, in a tie with Sheldon Shepherd, the actor from “Better Mus’ Come, ” a film about political unrest in Jamaica in the 70’s.

40 greatest female athletes: Lisa Leslie!

“I always felt like the biggest honor was to represent our country,” Lisa Leslie says. “The desire to not lose was so strong, almost stronger than the desire to win, if that makes sense.”

ESPN is marking the 40th anniversary of Title IX by unveiling the top 40 female athletes of the past 40 years.

As a senior at Morningside (Inglewood, Calif.), Lisa Leslie once scored 101 points. In the first half. The other team never even bothered to come out for the second half.

After high school, the No. 5 woman in ESPN’s countdown became a three-time All-American at USC, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and a three-time WNBA MVP.

“Once I realized you get a trophy if you win, I thought, this is awesome! I got so many, I could fill my house with them,” she says. “But the rewards are having the opportunity to be a role model, to travel the world. It was an honor to play this sport.”

Don’t you think its time to see Arsenio Hall back on tv?

Los Angeles, CA — A number of industry trade sources are reporting that Arsenio Hall, the former king of late night television, is contemplating a return to the airwaves next year. Sources are claiming that talks are only in the early stages, but Hall’s recent appearance and victory on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice may offer a clue.

It’s believed that CBS Television Distribution, previously named Paramount Domestic Television and the producer of The Arsenio Hall Show from 1989 to 1994, would again team up with the comedian. NBC is supposedly pushing to be the new network home for the show.

The word is that Trump, whose Apprentice series is with NBC, is likely to have a producer credit if a deal is sealed. Hall is already on board to host The Donald’s Miss USA Pageant. Hall said on ABC’s The View that the recent experience of interviewing Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie as a guest host on CNN’s Pierce Morgan show made him realize, “I want a talk show again.”

Both CBS and NBC refused to comment on the speculation.
