PR — The first television performance from Prince since the release of his two chart-topping albums, ART OFFICIAL AGE and PLECTRUMELECTRUM, on September 30 is not only going to be live, it will make history.
The music icon’s return to the SNL stage on November 1 – his first since February 4, 2006 – will be a rousing eight-minute long jam session with no commercial interruption. The party will feature Prince along with his all-female band 3RDEYEGIRL (guitarist Donna Grantis, bassist Ida Nielsen, and drummer Hannah Ford Welton).
In the 40-year history of SNL, most performances have been broken up into two segments, often at midnight and one just before the 90-minute classic sketch comedy show ends. But Prince, known for his spontaneous and electrifying three-hour concerts in venues both massive and intimate, will perform his set in the middle of the show with no closing encore. It’s anyone guess what the songs will be, but undeniable that it will be an incendiary and history making performance.
Host Chris Rock’s singular request was for Prince to be the musical guest for his return to SNL as host after 18 years. It is the second time he will host the show. The two made the announcement via a press release on October 14 with a photo of Rock dressed as Prince from the film Grown Ups 2.
ART OFFICIAL AGE, Prince’s solo album, bowed in at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Chart while PLECTRUMELECTRUM, featuring Prince’s new band 3RDEYEGIRL, debuted at #1 on the Rock Chart, making Prince the first artist in over a decade to debut two albums in the Top 10 at the same time.
“Saturday Night Live” is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.

Alongside Luther’s most loved songs, ‘The Greatest Hits’ album will also feature a brand new unreleased track from the archives, ‘Love It, Love It’ which will receive its global first play on BBC Radio 2’s The Ken Bruce Show on 3rd October. Sony Music will release Luther Vandross ‘The Greatest Hits’ as a special release only in the UK.
A soul singer/songwriter with a career that spanned 35 years with 14 studio albums and 8 Grammy Awards, Luther Vandross was regarded as one of the greatest male vocalists of all time. Coupled with his voice Luther Vandross’ unique ability to write and sing emotive songs has seen his name continue to influence and his tracks resonate with the public long since he passed away nearly 10 years ago in 2005. As the UK sees a recent surge in soul and R&B infused music, Luther’s work is more relevant than ever. Artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, Sam Smith, Ella
Eyre, Rita Ora, Ella Henderson and Ed Sheeran have all been influenced by Luther’s tone, range and versatility.
The never heard before single track ‘Love It, Love It’ is a highlight of this greatest hits release and brings back the upbeat and soulful sounds of the much loved multi-platinum-selling artist. The original recording of the track was from 1994, around the time of the album release ‘Never Let Me Go’.
‘The Greatest Hits’ album also includes 16 tracks spanning Luther’s three decade career including hits ‘Never Too Much’, ‘Dance With My Father’, ‘Hear and Now’, ‘Any Love’, as well as his famous collaborations with Beyoncé on ‘The Closer I Get To You’ and Mariah Carey on ‘Endless Love’.

In that span Luther released 8 #1 R&B albums, 7 #1 R&B singles and another 5 Top 20 R&B singles. He achieved crossover status with 8 Billboard Top 10 albums, including reaching #1 with 2003’s Dance With My Father; and another 5 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles. From his introduction to the world as a singer on the first season of PBS’s Sesame Street in 1969 to winning four Grammy Awards in 2004, Luther was a permanent and dynamic force in popular music. He crossed boundaries, starting with his earliest success as a background vocalist and arranger for David Bowie, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Carly Simon, Judy Collins, J. Geils Band, Ben E. King, Ringo Starr and Chic. He produced records for Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and Whitney Houston.
